Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson over the weekend joined the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki and his Delta State counterpart, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to pay their last respects to late Pa Emiemokumor Manager, father of the Senator representing Delta South, Senator James Manager.

Other notable personalities, who graced the funeral ceremony at Ogbein-Ama, Bomadi local government area of Delta State were some members of the National Assembly, including Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, his House of Representatives counterpart, Mr. Leo Ogor, Senator Stella Oduah, Senator representing Bayelsa West, Foster Ogola.

Speaking at the event, Governor Dickson said he led a delegation to lend support and identify with the Manager family and the government and people of Delta State in celebrating the life of the late octogenarian.

Describing the people of Bayelsa and Delta as one, the Governor stressed the need to maintain the cordial relationship existing between the two states, who share a common cultural heritage.

Governor Dickson, who extolled the virtues of Pa Manager, prayed God to provide succor to the deceased family to enable them bear the irreparable loss and contribute to the development of their community and the nation.

Also in his remarks, Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki said, leading a large number of the National Assembly members to Ogbein-Ama was a great honour and tribute to Pa Manager and his family.

Describing his relationship with the bereaved Senator as long lasting, Dr. Saraki commended the efforts of Senator James Manager in influencing the construction of the on-going road project leading to his community and assured the people of the area of the National Assembly’s support to the completion of the project.

Responding, the host Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, described Pa Manager as hard working and a man of integrity, qualities he noted, are found in Senator Manager, who has contributed immensely to the development state in particular and the country.

Expressing gratitude to God for the gift of Senator Manager, Dr. Okowa also praised the efforts of the lawmaker for making his community accessible and emphasized the political class to impact positively on society.

In his remarks, Senator James Manager, who read the biography of his father, said Pa Manager was a highly principled and honest man, who abhorred oppression and thanked all those who attended the ceremony.

Pa Emiemokumor was aged 84 and is survived by four children.
