Restoration Cup 2015: Participating Teams to Get Jerseys, Balls, as Organisers Unveil Trophy, Mascot Friday

All is now set for the kick off of the Governor Seriake Dickson Football Tournament, tagged "Restoration Cup 2015”

Disclosing this to newsmen in Yenagoa, the Director – General of Tournament’s Central Working Committee, Mr. Cyril Akika also hinted that the draws for the tournament as well as the presentation of jerseys, training bibs and footballs to the teams, would be held this friday at the Banquet hall of Government House, Yenagoa, Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson as Special Guest of Honour.

According to him, the Central Working Commttee will also brief the press on its preparedness and equally unveil the trophy and the Tournament Mascot.

He thanked all the registered teams for their patience and show of maturity, stressing that, due to the large number of teams that entered for the competition, the Central Working Committee had to go the extra mile to planfor the accommodation the teams at the various designated venues.

"We sincerely want to thank all the teams that registered for this tournament for their understanding and patience. We initially wanted to kick off in June, but so many issues came up, and since we want to deliver a quality package, we had to go back and do a lot of review and restrategise".

"For now, everything is ready, so the tounament would commence as soon as possible".

Meanwhile Ex - Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur star, Garth Anthony Crooks has endorsed the Governor Seriake Dickson Football Tournament.

Speaking while donating footballs in support of the tournament over the weekend, the former England forward, commended Governor Dickson for his drive in uplifting the Sports sector, as it would be most beneficial to the youths of the State.

"Governor Dickson has put something back into youth development by providing them with a great football tournament that will excite young men across the State. I am looking forward to watching the closing stages of the tournament and observing the talents in Bayelsa. Bayelsa has some fine young players and I am looking forward to seeing them in action".

In the same vein, former Nigerian International and Coach of Under - 23 National Team, Samson Siasia has expressed delight over the floating of the tournament and urged all participating youths to see it as an opportunity to make it big in the round leather game.
