...As He Expresses Confidence in Newly Elected National Assembly Members
Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake has expressed confidence in the ability of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to return to the pinnacle of national politics, inspite of its misadventure in the just concluded general elections in the country.
According to him, the party, which remains the only truly national party, will continue to grow from strength to strength and recapture power at the federal level.
Governor Seriake Dickson made the assertion on Friday, while receiving elected members of the National Assembly from the State, who visited him, shortly after receiving their ‘certificates of return’ from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Yenagoa.
He congratulated them and expressed the hope that, they will be excellent ambassadors and representatives of the people of the State, stressing that, the PDP also counts on them to stand shoulder to shoulder with their peers.
“The party counts on you all to stand by the PDP, the state also counts on you all to stand by the party and I am sure you are going to make the party and the state proud.
“I want to congratulate you all for a well deserved victory and looking at the just concluded House of Assembly election, PDP is still number one in the state and I believe we will maintain that position in the remaining election.”
He admonished the Bayelsa electorates to refrain from brigandage and violence in the rescheduled State Assembly election coming up this weekend, emphasising that, the security agencies have been put on full alert deal with trouble makers.
Governor Dickson, who congratulated all the winners, appealed to those who lost out in the polls, to accept defeat in the spirit of sportsmanship, noting that, as Bayelsans, there is no victor and no vanquished.
Those that were in attendance include, the Senator-elect for Bayelsa-West Senatorial District, Evangelist Foster Ogola, House of Representatives members elect, Hon. Henry Ofongo, representing Southern Ijaw federal constituency, Hon. Jephthah Foingha, representing Brass/Nembe federal constituency, Sodaguo Festus-Omoni, Ogbia federal constituency, and Douye Diri, representing Yenagoa/Kolokuma/Opokuma federal constituency.
