Governor Dickson, who made the call while declaring open a 2-day Pan Ijaw Summit at the Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre in Yenagoa, stressed the need for leaders of the Ijaw nation to rub minds and chart a way forward, after May 29th, when President Goodluck Jonathan hands over political power to the incoming administration.

Governor Dickson, who stated this during a courtesy visit by the new Executive Secretary of the board, Mr. Denzel Amagbe Kentebe in Government House, Yenagoa, stressed the need for people of the state, especially the business class to be effectively integrated into the oil and gas sector.

He intimated the new NCDMB boss of the doctrine of Bayelsa Content developed at the 4th Practical Nigerian Content Forum, organized by the board in conjunction with the State Government and other critical stakeholders in Yenagoa last year.

The Bayelsa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday expelled 9 of its members from the party over anti-party activities in the last general elections.
The decision for the expulsion was contained in a statement presented to media men by the state acting chairman of the party, Chief Serena Dokubo Spiff at its secretariat in Yenagoa, the state capital.
The affected members are, Senator Nimi Barigha-Amange, Mr. Nestor Binabo, Chief Werinipre Seibarugu, Mr. Waripamowei Dudafa and Mr. Chamberlain Kren Ikidi.

The Bayelsa State Government says it has uncovered plans by some evil-minded elements to truncate the prevailing peace in the state by unleashing terror on the law abiding people to achieve political gains.

Governor Seriake Dickson, who stated this at the 29th Security Council meeting in Yenagoa on Tuesday, noted that reports at his disposal indicate that those behind the sinister plan are making moves to mobilise cultists and other criminals with a view to creating an atmosphere of insecurity in the state.

Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson on Monday signed the State Physical Planning and Development Bill into law, aimed at addressing urban, regional and physical planning, in line with his administration’s policy of transforming the entire Bayelsa landscape.

Appending his signature on the bill in Government House, Yenagoa, Governor Dickson said, the essence of the bill was not only to tackle the issue of physical planning, but also to strengthen its revenue generation drive, towards boosting the internally generated revenue base.
