Governor Seriake Dickson’s re-election bid received a boost on Monday, as over 400 coalition of Non Governmental Organizations and civil society groups mobilized support for him at a mega rally tagged: ‘Operation Reject Sylva and APC’ in Bayelsa.

The groups with over 5,000 membership from all the eight constitutionally recognized local government areas of the state converged on the popular Peace Park in Yenagoa, to demonstrate their support and readiness to ensure that, the governor is re-elected for another 4-year term.

Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson, over the weekend called on the APC Governorship candidate Chief Timipre Sylva and other members of the opposition to work with his administration in delivering a credible, free, fair and peaceful election in the December 5th Gubernatorial poll.

Governor Dickson, who described the election as an isolated one, called on Bayelsans not to allow themselves to be intimidated in their various communities across the state, assuring that, their votes will count.

Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson has exonerated himself from reports that, he was partly responsible for the deepening crisis between the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Timipre Sylva and members of the party in the State.

A statement issued on Friday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson, said the Governor has no hand in Sylva’s rejection by the people as expressed through several media onslaughts against his candidacy, sponsored by aggrieved members of his party, the APC.

Former President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has assured the Bayelsa State Government and the Alamieyeseigha family of his commitment to efforts geared towards giving the departed foremost Ijaw leader a befitting state burial.

Dr. Jonathan gave the assurance on Friday, when he paid a condolence visit to the deceased family at Opolo in Yenagoa.

The former President who is scheduled to travel to Tanzania, where he is expected to spend about 12 days, promised to be fully involved in the burial arrangements, as soon as he returns to the country.
