Bayelsa State Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson on Wednesday reiterated his call on political leaders at all levels to support the judiciary, saying it remains the foundation of the nation’s democracy and stability.

The governor who spoke at a grand reception in Yenagoa, honouring him over the Supreme Court ruling, which validated his election, said the society would disintegrate, if the Judiciary is threatened in the course of performing its statutory role.

The Bayelsa State Government has described the ongoing nationwide monitoring exercise embarked upon by the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) to ascertain sources of revenues accruable from the non-oil sector to the Federation Account, as a step in the right direction.

Bayelsa State Government on Monday restated its call for increased collaboration and support for the Nigerian Navy to enable the agency effectively police the Niger Delta region and the Nation’s territorial waters.
It also appealed to the Navy to carry the state along, especially in the distribution of its formations, equipment and infrastructure, to enhance the operational efficiency of naval personnel in the state.

In its continued efforts at ensuring the prompt payment of teachers’ salaries in the state as well check payroll fraud and other sharp practices, the Bayelsa State Government has directed Principals of all the secondary schools to open accounts with the Sterling Bank Plc.

Handing down the directive in a statement, the State commissioner of Education, Deacon Markson Fefegha also urged the Principals to submit the account details to the Post Primary Schools’ Board, not later than the 9th of this month.
