Bayelsa State Government has condemned in strong terms the former President of Ijaw National Congress (JNC), Professor Kimse Okoko, for instituting a law suit against the state government over the establishment of the University of Africa, Toru-Ora.
The professor of Political Science had in his suit claimed that Dickson was using state resources to set up a university he would later claim ownership.
The Bayelsa State Government says, plans are on to fully re-kit its security outfit, code named, ‘Operation Doo Akpo’ as well as procure additional patrol vehicles to beef up security in Yenagoa and its environs.
Governor Seriake Dickson, who made this known in Yenagoa, while interacting with newsmen, assured that, the marine component of Operation Doo Akpo would be activated to partner with other security agencies, in stemming security challenges on the waterways, particularly in Brass local government area.
Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has expressed government’s preparedness to offer scholarship to students of the University of Africa, Toru Orua, when it becomes functional by next year.
Governor Dickson announced this, when he received a high-powered delegation of educational experts led by Professor Steve Azaiki, one time Secretary to the State Government, in Government House, Yenagoa.
The Governor, who stressed the need to establish a preliminary school, said the gesture was to prepare scholars run degree programmes at the new University of Africa.

The Bayelsa State Government on Thursday restricted the activities of herdsmen in the state to the Bayelsa Palm area in a bid to prevent the invasion of farmlands and check any security breach.
Governor Dickson, who issued the restriction order in a live radio and television interview in Yenagoa, said the measure has become imperative, in view of the recent upsurge in violence, and criminal activities of the cattle rearers in some parts of the country.
Governor Dickson, who gave the charge on Tuesday at the inauguration ceremony in Government House, Yenagoa, described their assignment as crucial and dimensional, as they were expected to give accurate reports on the security situation in the various local government areas and carry out government’s directives.

A former governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido has described Bayelsa State Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson, as a role model for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a symbol of excellence for politicians to emulate.
Lamido made the assertion, while fielding questions from Government House correspondents in Yenagoa, after a one day official visit and inspection of project sites in Yenagoa, in the company of other former governors and PDP stalwarts.
