The Bayelsa State government on Monday refuted insinuations that its indigenes on scholarship in Ghana were denied access to their hostels and stopped from writing their semester exams.

A statement by Mr Jeremiah Owoupele, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Seriake Dickson on Scholarships Welfare, noted that the office had been in constant touch with the authorities of the affected institutions.

Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson, has approved the appointment of a new Chairman of the Bayelsa State Post Primary Schools Board.

He is Hon. Dein Benadoumene, who takes over from Rt. Hon. Joseph Glory Kemeagbeye.

A statement by Mr Jeremiah Owoupele, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Seriake Dickson on Scholarships Welfare, noted that the office had been in constant touch with the authorities of the affected institutions.

The government said that contrary to a report by the online version of a national newspaper that the students had been abandoned, representatives from the state were currently in Accra to sort out any outstanding issues.

DICKSON INAUGURATES TWO NEW AGENCIES, DEMANDS PROACTIVE ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT
Governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Seriake Dickson has asked the State Emergency Management Agency, (SEMA) to evolve a work plan and build appropriate linkages with development partners on how best to tackle flooding and other emergencies.
He also urged the Parks and Gardens Committee to intensify efforts at beautifying the state capital and its environs, in line with the government’s policy of attracting investors and tourists to the state.

Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State on Wednesday expanded his cabinet with five new commissioners, with a mandate to align themselves to the ideals and vision of the restoration agenda, towards delivering quality services to the people.

Bayelsa State Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson on Tuesday commended the winners of the recent State and National Assembly re-run elections in Rivers State, but called on the Presidency to investigate perpetrators of electoral violence and punish the culprits to protect the nation's democracy.

According to him, the resilience and bravery of his Rivers State counterpart, Nyesom Wike, the Chiefs and people of Rivers State was a manifestation of the people’s resolve and conviction in the nations democracy.
