Governor Henry Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has commended the Federal Government for its decision to set up modular refineries, describing it as a brilliant idea that will not only create more jobs but would also increase the economic fortunes of Nigeria.

According to him, the refineries when fully on stream, will also curb the illegal refining of petroleum products which has been on for years and reduce casualties associated with such risk.

Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake  Dickson says priority attention will be accorded payment of arrears of salaries owed workers, as soon as the government receives the second tranche of the Paris Club loan refund.

Represented by his deputy, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah (Rtd), the Governor gave the assurance, during this year's Workers Day Celebration at the Peace Park in Yenagoa.

The attention of the Bayelsa State Ministry of Finance has been drawn to a publication on one of the National Newspapers that a Revenue Consultant has taken all the 36 States and the Governors’ Forum to court with the claim that it handled the Paris Club over-deductions from states accounts as the primary consultant and alleged that fees from the Paris Club refund are being paid to an unknown consultant.

The Bayelsa State Government has assured the South-South Entrepreneurship Development Centre of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), of its collaboration in the provision of necessary facilities to enhance their operations in the state.

Bayelsa State Governor, Hon Seriake Dickson has approved the immediate release of N200 million to enable the state-owned Niger Delta University, NDU, Amassoma secure accreditation for some of its programmes, including mathematics, computer science, law, chemistry and education.

Represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Yenagoa, Rt Hon Talford Ongolo, the Governor said, the approval was made to upgrade the programmes at the university ahead of the visit of the accreditation teams on the 6th of May, 2017.

Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson says literary icon, Dr. Gabriel Imomotimi Okara will continue to be celebrated because of his many years of ‎excellence in the world of arts.
The governor stated this in a message to congratulate the foremost writer and poet, as he clocks the enviable age of 96 on the 24th of April, 2017.

Dickson noted that, Okara's prowess in telling the African story, through his poems and prose has been widely acclaimed, making him one of the few legendary folklore kings on the continent.

Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson has condoled with the immediate family, the Government and people of Ekiti State over the untimely passing of Retired Navy Captain Philip Oladipo Ayeni.
Retired Navy Captain Ayeni, who was the pioneer Military Administrator of Bayelsa State when it was created by the administration of Late Head of State, General Sani Abacha in October, 1996, died in the early hours of last Thursday, after a protracted illness.
