Mission

The Ministry of Water Resources will source, manage and make the state’s water resources in order to provide potable and sustainable water supply for the wellbeing of the residents of Bayelsa State.

Goals
Increase the institutional capacity of the Ministry of Water Resources with qualified, efficient and effective staff as well as the necessary working tools and a conducive and enabling environment to ensure efficient, timely and cost effective execution of projects.Complete all unfinished and abandoned water projects across the state and rehabilitate existing non-functioning schemes throughout the stateProvide affordable water for all communities in Bayelsa State

Policy
The Government of Bayelsa State seeks to identify and manage both surface water and under-ground water resources in order to provide sustained high quality portable water for human consumption, manage stream flow and aquifer recharge, and ensure expansion of irrigated agriculture does not negatively impact on the health of the state’s ecosystem.
