Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson, has called on aggrieved parties within the Ijaw National Congress (INC) to sink their differences and abide by the recommendations of the committee set up to resolve the protracted crisis.

He made the call when the 20-member INC Reconciliation Committee led by King Alfred Diete-Spiff presented its report to him in Government House, Yenagoa.

According to Governor Dickson, his administration will make further consultations and work closely with the committee towards ensuring the effective implementation of the recommendations and findings made available to the government.

While appealing to all organs of the INC to resolve their differences amicably and embrace peace, the governor urged them to place the overriding interests and unity of the congress and the Ijaw nation above their individual ambitions.

His words: "I call on the disputing parties in the INC to give peace a chance. I appeal to them to show restraint and abide by the recommendations and findings of the committee.

"We shall consult further and in no distant time work together to actualise it. This is no time for our house to be divided and so I appeal to all organs of the INC that all their interests be subordinated for the overall interest of the INC.

"I call for support as we move to effectively implement the recommendations to bring to an end the disputes."

Chairman of the INC Reconciliation Committee, King Alfred Diete-Spiff, while presenting the report, said the committee swung into action as soon as it was inaugurated and came up with its findings and recommendations.

King Diete-Spiff expressed the hope that their efforts would go a long way in enthroning lasting peace and stability in the INC.
