Hon Gideon .O. Ekeuwei - Secretary to the Government of Bayelsa State

Hon. Gideon Omininee Ekeuwei, secretary to the government of  Bayelsa State was born 50 years ago in Ekeni town, however, his parents hails from Azuzuama, all in Southern Ijaw local government area of Bayelsa State. Before going into conventional politics in 1992, Hon Gideon Ekeuwei was a classroom teacher. However, the dynamics of Nigerian politics hired him to contest the elections into Rivers State house of Assembly at a very tender age, representing Southern Ijaw constituency IV in 1992.

With the election of Chief D.S.P Alamieyeseigha executive governor of Bayelsa State in 1999, Hon. Ekeuwei was appointed Executive chairman of Bayelsa State Environmental Sanitation Authority, after perusing his humble political profiles.

Satisfied with his performance in office, Hon. Gideon Ekeuwe was re-appointed as commissioner for special duties, Governor’s office, representing Bayelsa central after D.S.P Alamieyeseigha was re-elected as Governor of Bayelsa State.

However, with the political stalemate that affected the D.S.P Alamieyeseigha led administration in 2005, he left office and was in private business until 2008 when he was appointed Secretary to the Bayelsa state government.

A master degree (M.SC) holder in political science with speciality in Development Studies. He is also a holder of a Bachelor of Education Degree (B.Ed) in political Science with speciality in education management and planning, all from the famous University of Port-Harcourt. Before getting to the aforementioned level, he obtained his National Certificate for Education (NCE) from the Rivers State College of Education, Port-Harcourt.

Hon. Gideon Omininee Ekeuwe is a member of the most outstanding association, the Nigeria Environmental Society as well as a member of the University of Port-Harcourt Alumina Association.
