Gov Dickson swears in APC stalwart, 8 Women, 21 others as Special Advisers……Discloses that 2017 will be decisive one……

Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson on Tuesday swore in a staunch member of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Mrs. Mercy Zigha, and twenty-nine others as Special Advisers and reiterated his commitment to the transformation of the State, in line with his administration’s policy of transparency, prudence and accountability.

Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson on Tuesday swore in a staunch member of the All Progressives  Congress, (APC), Mrs. Mercy Zigha, and twenty-nine others as Special Advisers and reiterated his commitment to the transformation of the State, in line with his administration’s policy of transparency, prudence and accountability.
Addressing the newly sworn in aides at the Executive council chamber, Governor’s office Yenagoa, the governor commended the efforts of the appointees during the election, adding that, history would record in their favour their doggedness that ensure the victory of the restoration government during the election.

Hon. Dickson said that now the election is over, it is now time for the appointees to face the business of delivering dividend of democracy to the people, stating that during his inaugural address to the people, he had made his stance on the development of Bayelsa known to the people.

“During my inaugural address, I made one promise that Bayelsa and ijaw nation will not be the same again.” In spite of our dwindling revenue, we have been able to impact on the lives of the people through various developmental projects in all our towns and villages.

Stressing on the need for the new appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them, the governor said even though they are coming in at this critical period in the history of our nation, there is need for them to align with the Restoration agenda of the present administration.

He disclosed that 2017 is going to be a decisive one in terms of re-organisation, reformation and sustenance of existing peaceful atmosphere across the state, disclosing that the state has been adjudged as the most peaceful state in the Country.

His words, “the year 2017 is going to be a decisive one in the history of the state. We are known to be the most peaceful state in the country. Your state is far more respected than ever before. You have a government that is respected.”

Speaking shortly after the inauguration, the State Commissioner of Information and Orientation, Hon. Jonathan Obuebite commended the governor for living up to his promise of recognizing the contributions of some notable Bayelsans to the victory of Restoration government during the last governorship election.

The appointment of the thirty Special Advisers, according to the Commissioner would bridge the gap between the political class and the civil servants and as well correct the impression that Bayelsa belongs to the civil servants.

In addition, it will further generate employment for some people in the state, as the appointees will appoint two or more aides that will assist them in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.

Describing Governor Dickson administration as gender friendly, Hon. Obuebite said this would be the first time in the history of the state that this higher percentage of women would be giving political responsibility.
