Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson says, the State owned Teachers’ Training Academy, Bolou Orua in Sagbama Local Government Area and other school projects in the State will be put to use as soon as they are commissioned.
The Governor, who dropped this hint, while answering questions from Government House correspondents in Yenagoa, explained that, while the Teachers Training Academy and International School of Hospitality and Tourism have been completed, the School of Agriculture, the Sports and Football Academies have attained reasonable levels of completion.
His words “The Teachers’ Training Academy has already been completed and not only that; we have completed very many schools. We have finished the International School of Hospitality and Tourism, the School of Agriculture is about to be completed and so on”
Governor Dickson, who spoke on a wide range of issues, also underscored the significance of the various ongoing road projects across the State, pointed out that, the AIT- Igbogene Road Bypass is critical to the emerging cosmopolitan status of Yenagoa.
He emphasized the urgent need to complete the AIT – Igbogene Road Bypass as a means of de-congesting traffic within the capital city and fast tracking various economic activities of both the Government and private sector investors as well as the overall development of the State.
“The AIT and Igbogene Roads are important roads because we want stop traffic snarls in Yenagoa, that is becoming one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the country and we want it to be the new Dubai of Africa”
According to him, the Government decided to withhold the second Flyover Bridge to be sited at Tombia/Edepie junction in the State Capital, due to the dwindling resources of the State as well as ensure the completion of already ongoing projects such as the AIT and Igbogene and other projects.
On the slow pace of work on the AIT and Igbogene road and some other projects, the Bayelsa State Governor gave an assurance that, the affected contractors will be contacted and urged to expedite work on the projects.
“The AIT road is almost completed. For the Igbogene road, we are going to meet with the contractors very soon to see how they can expedite work on the project”
