Agricultural Revival
In light of this, the Bayelsa State Government is to send some youths to Sweden for training in fish farming.
Governor Timipre Sylva who announced this while speaking on a Radio Bayelsa programme, “Relax with Governor Sylva”, said the training is part of far-reaching decisions taken when a Swedish delegation paid him a visit in Yenagoa.
Governor Sylva said at the end of the training, the youths will be grouped into co-operatives and be provided with fishing trawlers as part of the government’s capacity building and empowerment programme.
According to the Governor, the government has also acquired trawlers which will be used for the fish industry that will also employ over one thousand youths.
The Governor said the state has also received delegations from Denmark and the World Bank in demonstration of the readiness of the state for foreign investment, emphasizing that the state is not only peaceful but also secured for investment.
On the epileptic power situation in the State, Chief Timipre Sylva explained that a new gas turbine will be inaugurated by May this year to take care of the problem, adding that the installation of the turbine is in progress.
Answering a question on revenue generation, the Governor appealed to Bayelsans to pay their taxes to boost the internally generated revenue profile of the state.
