Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson on Tuesday said the Diagnostic Centre at the Melford Okilo 500 Bed Hospital in Yenagoa, will make the state a health tourism destination.
Governor Dickson, who stated this when the leadership of Traigen Healthcare visited him at Government House, Yenagoa, said government is willing to partner people with the expertise to invest in the health sector for the benefit of the state.
He underscored the importance of the Traigen Healthcare to aspirations of the state in the health sector, adding that, the government is looking forward to the speedy completion of the paper work between the Traigen Healthcare and the Ministry of Health to enable them kick-start the running of the Diagnostic Centre.
He said the expectation of the state government is for the Diagnostic Centre to be private sector- driven, explaining that, the people of the State would begin to benefit from the facility, as soon as the paper work is completed.
Governor Dickson pointed out that, his administration has embarked on a lot of ambitious health projects and with partnerships like that of the Traigen Healthcare group, the State will witness an improved healthcare delivery system.
“The Diagnostic Centre is meant to be driven by the private sector, and I look forward to the speedy completion of the paper work to ensure that the people of the state benefit from it.

In his remarks, Chief Executive Officer of Traigen Healthcare, Dr. Fiemu Nwariaku, lauded the vision of Governor Dickson for the state, particularly in the health sector.
While expressing the commitment of Traigen towards the partnership, Nwariaku noted that, it will help to move the health sector in the state forward.
