Bayelsa assure Council for Legal Education, others on Accreditation of Courses at State Varsity

The Bayelsa State Government has assured regulatory bodies of courses and programmes at the State owned Niger Delta University (NDU), Amassoma of its commitment to meet the requirements for full accreditation of the various courses offered at the institution.

....Governor Seriake Dickson, gave the assurance, when the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School and Chairman of the accreditation Committee of the Council for Legal Education, Mr. Olarenwaju Onadeko led members of the Committee on a courtesy call at Government House, Yenagoa.

The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Retired Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah, stated that, every requirement needed for the full accreditation of the Faculty of Law and Courses would be met by the state government, adding that, the government was determined to ensure that the products of the NDU rank among the best anywhere within and outside the country.

According to him, " We are ready to go the extra mile to ensure that, we compete with other universities. Government will go round with your team to take note of your findings and recommendations".

He reaffirmed the government's commitment to capacity development of youths in the state, describing the faculty of law as a priority in this direction.

In his words, " Government is very interested in the issue of accreditation not only for the law faculty but for the entire NDU. In my discussion with the Commissioner of Justice, Kemasuode Wodu, I have been assured that, the government has played its role for the law faculty to be accredited. I am sure by the time your team goes round, your recommendations will reflect the efforts we have put in".

Chairman of the accreditation team and Director General of the Nigerian Law School, Mr. Olarenwaju Onadeko, SAN, stated that, the team is on an accreditation visit to the NDU law faculty to determine whether its recommendations for the full accreditation of the faculty have been fulfilled.

He said that, the team was also in the State to give its professional advice as well as set the template towards sustaining the standard required for the NDU law faculty.

The accreditation committee of the Council for Legal Education was accompanied on the visit by the Vice-Chancellor of the Niger Delta University, Prof. Humphrey Ogoni and other senior academic staff of the university.
